Smart Card System for Universities / Schools - Boğaziçi Campus Card

This is a smart card project developed by Boğaziçi Kart for universities and schools since 2012. By using this card system, entrance and exit control and attendance monitoring can be made in the desired areas in the school, entrance and exit to the parking lots can be controlled and the refectories, dining halls, canteens, cafeterias and vending machines can be utilized with the credits loaded into the card without using cash.

The most important part of the Campus Card system is smart cards. Thanks to the microprocessor, these cards can exchange information, mathematical operations and memory operations. It is possible to store, load and read information on cards. The cards that can be read remotely by radio frequency method have 8 kilobits and more memory space. There are 16 independent memory spaces on the cards. The memory areas are independent and can have different passwords. In this way, many different functions can be implemented at the same time with one card. For example, you can borrow books from the library and shop from the canteen with the same card. While you can beverage at cafe in the university, you can also use a refectory or a dining hall.

The cards are the standard credit card size and can be carried with clips on the collar or with  lanyards. It is possible to use it without removing the card from your pocket or wallet. Since the Campus Card system provides a structure that is always suitable for expansion, applications starting within a narrow scope can be expanded later. Before installation of the system, it should be determined which function should be inclueded. And after the determination, an on-site exploration should be made about the applications requested by management, and the project should be prepared in this direction.

APPLICATION AREAS

All students, teachers and staff are given personalized ID badges which are offset printed cards with personal information and photos. Using this smart card system, the following applications can be made in a campus, independent districts or buildings.

Security and Authorization

The entrance and exit of the campuses can be controlled and unauthorized or unwanted people can be prevented from entering. Tourniquets placed at the entrances of buildings and / or campuses are automatically tested for entry authorization and, if authorized, are allowed to pass. Any person's login authorization can be removed at any time and notified to the whole system via computer. It is possible for people to enter only certain areas (space limitation) and to enter certain times (time limitation). Field and time control can be changed from the computer if requested by the authorized person. Secondary security areas in the school (eg laboratories) can be opened using the same card. On-line or off-line areas can be created. And all input and output records, whether on or off line, are available. School computers or system rooms are opened for use using the same card. In this way, the use of unauthorized persons is prevented as well as when the authority holders can be determined.

Parking Automation

The school car park can be arranged as paid or free (only for subscribers). In the paid parking system, visitors can buy tickets from the machine and benefit from the paid parking hours. Subscribers enter and exit by card, automatic barriers are opened by the cardholder to swipe the card and do not allow unauthorized vehicle entry. The same card can be used at the entrance to a second district or parking lot within the school. For example, although all card holders can enter the school with their vehicles, they can be arranged so that only personnel vehicles can enter the parking lot reserved for administrative personnel. Vehicle entrances, as well as pedestrian entrances, authorization can be made depending on the person or time.

Shuttle

The system can be applied for paid or free shuttle. The validator devices placed next to the driver prevent foreigners from entering the school by checking their identity. Persons who do not have a school ID badge are blocked by the driver and prevent foreign persons from entering the school with the services. Persons whose card has expired or have been disconnected from the school will not be able to use the school bus services unless they are allowed to do so. In educational institutions with paid services, students can make electronic payments in service vehicles by using the credits they load on their cards at the university. Not only students, but academics, lecturers, and university employees use school ID badges in the same way.

Attendance Tracking for Staff and Students

School employee can read the card in the card reader in their working area or at the entrance of the school and transfer the start and exit records to the computer and payroll data can be obtained by using this information. Employee input and output reports, incoming and non-incoming reports, late and early output reports can be obtained from the system at any time. If required, it can be used in payroll calculation using payroll information. If requested, the polling can be done electronically with the cards. Polling can be done using T4 fixed card readers or T425 portable portable readers placed in the classroom entrances. Card readers placed in the building or campus entrances in the same way prevent unauthorized access and attendance control reports can be obtained for the people if desired.

Access to Personal Information

All the necessary data of the cardholder (such as identity information, blood type, illnesses, surgeries, address, telephone numbers, insurance records) can be recorded on the card. On the front of the card you will find the necessary information and photos. Entering the card information and taking the photo or saving it on the card in electronic environment is completed in a few minutes. Personal information recorded on the card can be read from authorized terminals when requested.

Refectory Automation

Refectory usage can be charged and counted automatically through the tourniquets. Different rates may apply for different groups according to the tariffs charged to the card reader validators. Although the staff and the student pass through the same tourniquet, different fees are charged to their cards. Turnstiles can be authorized according to different groups so that, for example, students are not allowed to pass through the tourniquet of the faculty members. Stainless steel separators can be used to guide the turnstile entrances. The card reader validators integrated into the turnstile may charge different tariffs when a second meal is requested on the same day. Even if there is no computer connection, the system applies the second tariff if an attempt is made to buy food through a different turnstile during the day. Reports of how many people have eaten in the cafeterias can be taken over the internet by entering the password by the authorities. On the graphic LCD screens on the card reader validators, the person can see the amount of credit remaining on the card and the fee charged. cards can be blacklisted and canceled at any time. Our touch-screen POS terminals are used in selectable restaurants. After the selection of food by touching the screen, the amount of the person's card is charged by reading.

Pool, Entertainment Centers, Sports and Other Activities

It is possible to check the entrances and exits of the facilities where activities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, carpet pitches and sports halls are made, and to charge and charge. Subscription system can be applied or hourly pricing is possible. These activities can be supervised and controlled by the school or operator using the UNICARD card pass system.
